Today’s entry is dedicated to Peter Wilhelm Lund. Originally from Denmark he is considered the father of Brasilian Paleontology. He was born in 1801 and started working in South America in 1825. In Minas Gerais he discovered several caves which contained more than 20.000 important fossils of the Ice Age Mega Fauna. Smilodon Populator was just one of the many creatures he named.
Apart from all this he also worked as an Archaeologist and discovered South American cave paintings as well as human remains mixed with the bones of extinct megafauna. Thus Lund managed to prove, that humans had co-existed with prehistoric animals which went against the belief of the time.
